AABC Diversity & Inclusion Scholarships 2019

About AABC Diversity & Inclusion Scholarships 2019

The U.S. maternity care system is failing our mothers and newborns with significant disparities associated with race, poverty, and access to quality care. Through the federal Strong Start for Mothers and Newborns Initiative and other research, birth centers have been identified as a maternity care model with large potential impact to improve health outcomes for all women including those with the greatest disparities.

In 2018, AABC established the Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship program and awarded 11 scholarships to the AABC Birth Institute. These scholarships had a profound impact on last year’s recipients. Scholarship recipient Leticia Fernandez shared, “My attendance would not have been possible without the AABC Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship. This conference was amazing because I was surrounded by many individuals from different organizations, locations, and cultural backgrounds who share the same passion. This conference definitely reassured me that I’m on the right path following my calling and that I am not alone."

Your donation today will enable more scholarship recipients to attend the AABC Birth Institute in 2019. Each AABC Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship includes a conference registration, travel stipend, ticket to the AABC Foundation's Gala to Grow Birth Centers, and a one-year Individual membership to AABC. Donations at all levels are graciously accepted.

Donate $1200 - not only will this provide a full scholarship but you also will receive a shareable diversity and inclusion champion badge.

All donors who give $250 or more are invited to a reception with the scholarship recipients at the 2019 Birth Institute.
